Sister is the fourth studio album to be released in 1987 by legendary grunge pioneers, Sonic Youth.
Much like the band's previous albums, Sister garnered critical acclaim later in Sonic Youth's career with publications like Pitchfork pronouncing it #14 on itsBest Albums of the 1980's list, while NME rated it #80 on their list of the greatest albums ever, and #37 in their list of the 50 greatest albums of the 1980s.
As a loose concept album, Sister came together from inspiration partially by the life and work of science fiction writer, Phillip W. Dick.
