This title has been cut from the original masters & pressed on black 180-gram heavyweight vinyl & includes a download card. Steve Earle's 1990 follow up to 'Copperhead Road', which had a minor crossover hit with the title track. 'The Hard Way' was recorded in the middle of Earle's well documented struggles with drug addiction. Quite possibly overlooked as a result, the album nevertheless contains two bonafide Earle classics in 'The Other Kind' and 'Billy Austin'. Earle himself had this to say of the album in 2000: "I defend The Hard Way to the death, because I almost died in the process of making it."
