Sonically, old school Good Charlotte fans will find a lot of comfort in "40 oz. Dream" the single off of their new album, 'Youth Authority.' The track features a plucky, acoustic-guitar lead melody, which transitions to a slightly harder arrangement in the chorus. During "40 oz. Dream" Good Charlotte talk about the "good ol days" when Eazy-E was on MTV and rock stars were junkies.
Throughout the album, Good Charlotte continue with their classic sound of pop and punk blend and it seems as though lead singer Joel Madden's voice hasn't lost anything, though in the chorus of "40 oz. Dream" there is a hint of auto tune to spice up the pop element of the song.
Joel Madden said this about Youth Authority' "For us "40 oz. Dream" was the perfect song to kick off our new album. It's got all the sarcasm and humour we've always loved, and lots of affection for the past and present."
