A Corpse Wired For Sound (Limited Blue Vinyl LP)

Merchandise had never set foot in a studio until they started recording A Corpse Wired for Sound, their second album for 4AD - even their debut for the label, After the End, was recorded in the bedroom of lead signer Carson Cox. This doesn't necessarily mean that the band are distancing themselves from their strong DIY roots, though - it's just another experiment in Merchandise's constant metamorphosis.

A Corpse Wired for Sound was recorded in Tampa, Florida, and Rosà, Italy. The album's title was inspired by a JG Ballard short story. "It's about the truth of growing up," frontman Cox said of the record. "You can't take your friends or lovers with you. It's about finding peace with that loneliness."
