Milky Chance needed an album like Blossom. The genre-fusing German duo quickly topped charts with the release of 2013's "Stolen Dance", with its mesmerizing acoustic riffs and toe-tapping beats. Since the release of their debut album, Sadnecessary, Clemens Rehbein and Phillip Dausch were on a mission to prove that they could release an entire album of songs that are just as feel-good and catchy as their smash hit. We're pretty sure they've surpassed everyone's expectations with Blossom.
The album begins with the title track, which sets the bar high for the rest of the album. The start of the song slowly builds, creepin' up on you till it hits you with sun-drenched riffs and that Milky Chance sound we love. On "Firebird" and "Clouds", Rehbein shows the range of his raspy croon and brings worldly sounds to the album. "Doing Good" is a bass-heavy banger with guitar riffs that groove through the reggae and dance inspired track. "Bad Things" has a pleasantly surprising mid-album feature, Izzy Bizu, and it changes things up by adding an infectiously happy, poppy electronic curveball. "Cocoon" takes the album full circle, bringing tighter, refined sounds and loopy guitar riffs.
Blossom, which comes as a deluxe version, is 14 songs with 6 acoustic versions that take you up to a happy cloud of good vibes. Instead of sampling sounds, like they did in their debut album, Blossom was recorded with live instruments which gives it a rich, organic feel.
