Ti Amo

Ti Amo (Italian for 'I love you') is decidedly apolitical record, though not being political is its own statement in 2017. Now, in slightly more positive times, everyone can enjoy Ti Amo's bright, summery sounds for what they are. The album sits comfortably beside Phoenix's finest work, such as their breakthrough fourth album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. A gold seller in multiple countries, with a platinum single in the shape of 1901, it's won a Grammy in 2009 for Best Alternative Music Album and is the one that put the band where theya re today; adored festival headliners known for their showmanship.

Produced by the band and recorded at La Gaîté Lyrique (Paris) with the help of long-time collaborator Pierrick Devin, Ti Amo is - in the band's own words - "an album about simple pure emotions: love, desire, lust and innocence, it's also a record about our European, Latin roots, a fantasized version of Italy: a lost paradise made of eternal Roman summers (hyper-light, hyper-clarity, pistachio gelato), juke-boxes on the beach, Monica Vitti and Marcello Mastroiani, fearless desire and Antique marble statues."

Ti Amo is Phoenix's first album since 2013's critically lauded Bankrupt!, which debuted at #27 on the NZ Top 40 Album Chart and follows other cult classics albums Wolfgang Amadeus (2013), It's Never Been Like It (2006), Alphabetical (2004) and United (2000).
