"With His Hot and Blue Guitar"; "Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous"; "The Fabulous Johnny Cash"; "Now, There Was A Song".
We all know the story of Johnny Cash, born into a large, poor family, working in the cotton fields by the age of five. Being discovered at Sun Studios alongside Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison before going on to sell over 90 million records worldwide while becoming an iconic living legend! We also all know, of course, what he sounds like, that familiar boom chaka boom chaka boom riff behind that deep, dark voice! We also know that they just don't make 'em like that anymore! Here at Avid we thought it only appropriate that our first foray into country music should feature one of its greatest legends! Here we present four very early albums from the 1950s displaying the range of music covered by the "man in black". He takes us from gospel to folk and blues, to rockabilly and rock "n" roll to country and pop. Whatever the genre, whether he wrote it himself or he sings a cover version, the sound is always that of the inimitable and unique Johnny Cash. If, like me, you cannot get that haunting image of him from his final "Hurt " video out of your head, take a listen to these early albums, they will lift your spirits and take you back to where it all started.
