We got another live one! Mr. Curtis Fuller born in 1934 and still going stronger than ever. It must be something to do with his instrument of choice, the trombone. Curtis Fuller grew up in an orphanage in Detroit having lost his parents while still very young. While living there he was fortunate to run into quite a few budding jazz musicians including Paul Chambers and Donald Byrd. He would later play in a band with Chambers and the Adderley Brothers before moving on to join Yusef Lateef. Our selections cover a five year period from the early days of 1957's New Trombone to Soul Trombone recorded in 1961 and released a year later.
