As a member of the hugely influential Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, as the band's main songwriter, explored subjects that had rarely been examined so openly in Rock and Roll. In 1971, Reed embarked upon a solo career that to this day is still going strong. That career produced numerous hits, including 'Walk On The Wild Side', 'The Kids' and 'Perfect Day'.
