Rossini: Matilde di Shabran (Original version of the opera)

Here's an opera rarity, with only one other competing recording of Rossini's comic-heroic romp Matilde di Shabran. Additionally, this 2019 Rossini in Wildbad production is unique in being the world premiere recording of the score's original 1821 Rome version. Other productions have used Rossini's later revisions made for audiences in Naples and Vienna. Recordings from the annual Rossini in Wildbad Festival have become a pillar of our operatic output. Rare versions of neglected masterpieces are also hallmarks of our catalogue, with the original score of Matilde di Shabran standing as a notable and highly entertaining example.
