[Isisdore] Godfrey's conducting is as affectionate as ever, more lyrical here, without loosing the rhythmic buoyancy; one can hear him revelling in the many touches of colour in the orchestration which the Royal Philharmonic orchestra present with great sophistication. Valerie Masterson is an excellent Mabel but perhaps the greatest joy of this set is Owen Brannigan's Sergeant of Police, a part this artist was surely born to play."
