Moonstone

Six highly-regarded New Zealand composers were each commissioned to write a performance piece for viola and piano. With these new works, Gareth Farr, Ross Harris, David Hamilton, Srah Ballard, Leonie Holmes and Chris Cree Brown have made a substantial contribution to the repertoire for this combination of instruments, and together with two older previously unrecorded works - Alfred Hill's Sonata Movement in B minor and Dame Gillian Whitehead's Moonstone - this collection is a testatment to the rich art music culture in Aotearoa New Zealand.
