Sitting Pretty was the sixth and last collaboration of Jerome Kern, P. G. Wodehouse, and Guy Bolton. This delicious score, bubbling over with melancholy and longing, is one of the most important of Kern's pre-Showboat creations. The lyrics were written by P.G. Wodehouse, one of the most under-appreciated of the major lyricists. The original orchestrations by Robert Russell Bennett, Max Steiner, & Hilding Anderson were used faithfully in re-creating this show. These manuscripts were "lost" and re-discovered in 1982 in the now-famous Warner Brothers Music warehouse in Secaucus, NJ.
"For sheer musical bliss, nothing I have heard recently equals this complete, loving version of Sitting Pretty. I guarantee that you will be intoxicated by the score's melodies and disarmed by the enchanting performance. John McGlinn and his expert orchestra and chorus bring its distinctive atmosphere persuasively to life." - The New York Times
