The follow-up to Intuition (2018) and Emotions (2020), Sensations is a collection of 20 peices from cellist extraordinaire Gautier Capuçon, working alongside regular arranger and pianist Jerome Ducros. Remarkably, Capuçon sounds every bit as compelling in Arlen's "Over The Rainbow" and Legrand's "Windmills of Your Mind" as he does in Barber's Adagio. All but six tracks feature brilliant young maestro Johanna Malangre conducting the Orchestre National de Bretagne.
Other artists on the album include Egyptian soprano sensation Fatma Said soars aloft in the Aria from Villa-Lobos' Bachianas brasileiras No. 5, trumpet virtuoso Lucienne Renaudin Vary in the laidback swing oif Bert Kaempfert's "L-O-V-E", and Capucelli, an ensemble made up of six of Capuçon 's starry cello students, who go down a storm in Grieg's "In the Hall Of the Mountain King" from Peer Gynt and Bernstein's "Mambo" from West Side Story.
