This is a carnival of French works for all generations by world-renowned pianist Lang Lang who offers music lovers of all ages the pleasure of discovery.
Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Gewandhaus Orchestra and conductor Andris Nelson, a top-notch performer, is for Lang Lang a true Romantic masterpiece, comparable to the works of great composers such as Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky. And in his continuing quest to inspire children to love classical music, Lang Lang has combined this work with "The Carnival of the Animals," featuring the quirky animals that have always captivated children's hearts.
In addition to these works, the programme includes works by five rare French women composers (Louise Falanques, Charlotte Sohi, Germaine Tailleferre, Mélanie Bonis, and Lili Boulanger), as well as popular French classics (Ravel, Debussy, Fauré, Dreve), this is truly a "carnival" of French music. He and his wife, pianist Gina Allis, perform "Carnival of the Animals" and Debussy's "Small Suite" in hopes that the family will enjoy the music together.
