New York-born Harold Arlen (1905-1986) wrote some of the biggest hits from the 1930s and 1940s, including the entire score to the classic movie "The Wizard of Oz" and was without doubt one of the greatest of all the American popular composers and songwriters.
This collection pays tribute to the composer's music and features such fine musicians as Ben Webster Quartet (featuring Hank Jones), Johnny Hartman, Fred Astaire, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane Quartet, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Giuffre, Art Tatum and many more.
