The collaborative efforts, the mutual emulation and inspiration of Sir Antonio Pappano and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome have spanned 18 years, led to one of the world's greatest and most versatile virtuoso ensembles and to acclaimed live and studio recordings showcasing an eclectic selection of symphonic and choral music. Their repertoire features already legendary performances of Verdi's Requiem and Quattro pezzi sacri. In addition, their recording of Bruckner's 8th Symphony features here.
"Beatrice Rana is fierce! And not only as a pianist but as a fully developed artist of a stature that belies her tender years. The concerto debut of a young pianist garnering much praise - and on the strength of this disc, quite right too!" (Editor's Choice Gramophone December 2015 (Tchaikovsky/Prokofiev)
"This Requiem is firmly founded on the altogether excellent singing of Pappano's Italian chorus"
BBC Music Magazine Awards 2010 - Choral WINNER (Verdi's Requiem)
"Pappano's knowledge of, and seeming instinct for, Bernstein's sound world, rhythms and references, is hugely engaging - an excellent modern way of marking the composer's centenary." Gramophone Awards Finalist 2019 (Bernstein Symphonies)
"A precondition for success here is the assembling of a matched quartet of technically accomplished singers blessed with a sense of the Rossini style. Pappano has this absolutely. The pairing of Anna Netrebko and Joyce DiDonato is a match made in heaven...This is one of the great choral recordings." Gramophone Disc of the Month January 2017 (Rossini Stabat Mater)
"Like the very best music directors, you can't pigeon-hole Antonio Pappano. He may have made his name with Puccini but he's got an instinctive feel for structure and for style that makes him good at most things. His Tchaikovsky doesn't disappoint, full of vigour, of tunefulness" Gramophone Editor's Choice February 2007 (Tchaikovsky Overtures & Fantasies)
