The hardcover edition of Claudio Abbado's legendary recording of Rossini's opera The Barber of Seville is out of print and now available in a new packaged set: 2 CD + BD audio (24bit/96kHz) + DVD video box set. The DVD features a nearly identical cast, with film footage directed, set, and costumed by Jean-Pierre Poner, and a performance in Milan in 1972. 28-page booklet (English, English, French, German, Spanish, and Spanish). The 28-page booklet (in English and German) includes a synopsis and essays by Alan Blythe, Bernd Feuchter, and Philippe Gosset.

Claudio Abbado's musical direction of this production, released on CD, has steadfastly remained one of the highlights of the DG audio catalogue. DVD-Video finally allows both to be presented together in a format, whose quality does them both justice.
