The critical reception of Schumann's violin sonatas-like that of much of the composer's late output-has vacillated over the course of the intervening centuries. Written for and first performed by some of the leading violinists of the day, all three are now recognised for the masterpieces they undoubtedly are, needing no apology: and we are fortunate indeed to be in a position to enjoy such dedicated performances as these.
"Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien are well established as a formidable, finely poetic duo, and this set of performances shows them at their vibrant best. On a purely practical level, the balance between the two instruments is exquisite, and that is thanks at least partly to the recording team."

"Amid limited but tough competition...it will more likely than not be Ibragimova and Tiberghien's set for which I will reach first from henceforth."
