On March 28, 2023, legendary Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away from his battle with cancer. In the final stages of his life, with touring and solo shows now impossible due to his health battle, the maestro wanted to perform for the world one last time. The performance was shot by Sakamoto's son Neo Sora in an empty NHK recording studio, thought to possess the finest audio dynamics in Japan. With naught but a grand piano for company, Ryuichi Sakamoto performs a carefully curated selection of 21 compositions from across his storied career for the final time. Shot in monochrome, Sora captures the master's swansong with breathtaking intimacy and emotion. Ryuichi Sakamoto's final performance is a truly one of its kind musical and cinematic experience.
