Nick King, working for a consortium of ship owners, teams up with Admiral Henry Fox in dealing with problems that occur on the St. Lawrence Seaway. Fox is a government official, bringing a legal aspect to bringing things to a conclusion.

Filmed on location along the St. Lawrence Seaway and on the ships that sailed it's ever-changing course, Seaway was an ambitious production for Canadian television and the most expensive ever commissioned to the time. Shot on 35mm film with international distribution in mind (via Lew Grade's prolific company, ITC), the resulting series yielded high production values and strong storylines. For the first time, all 30 episodes of this much sought-after series are collected on DVD including the final 2 episodes shot in colour plus the film version of that final story.
