Vladimir Ashkenazy recorded the majority of Schuman's solo piano works during the 1980s and 1990s. Dating from 1965 and just three years after winning joint first prize at the 1962 Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition, Ashkenazy's readings of the Sinfonische Etüden are full of the energy and dynamism of a young pianist at the very height of his powers (Ashkenazy was just 28 when these recordings were made).
Arabeske in C major, Op. 18
