Japanese guitarist Koki Fujimoto presents a recital of evocative works from France, Spain, and Japan. He opens with his own arrangement of Ravel's Alborada del gracioso, shimmering with Spanish guitar colour, followed by one of Sor's finest masterpieces, the Fantaisie et Variations brillantes. Miguel Llobet-one of the 20th century's most influential guitarists and a prolific composer-brings exquisite harmonic nuance and melodic expressiveness to his Catalan folk‑inspired miniatures.
These are paired with two expressive Japanese works: Fujimoto's Aki no Sankan Nigiri and Sunao Isaji's Tropical Count. The program concludes with Ansgar Krause's arrangement of Debussy's earliest known piano piece, Danse bohémienne.
