A German Spirit - 17th Century Music For the Time of Witsun and Trinitatis

With A German Spirit, the Margaretha Consort completes the trilogy following A German Christmas (2018) and A German Passion (2023). This release, too, is more than a historical reconstruction: it is a living musical experience in which sound, spirituality and heritage meet. Through the combination of historical awareness, artistic curiosity, creativity and passion, this centuries‑old music sounds fresh and contemporary, building a bridge between past and present.

The early music ensemble Margaretha Consort, based in the Netherlands, was founded in 2009 by Marit Broekroelofs. Since its inception, the ensemble has established itself as a highly specialised and artistically outstanding collective that uniquely combines in‑depth expertise, stylistic mastery and musical expressiveness.

The musicians combine technical skill with a deep shared musical vision, characterised by mutual trust, sensitivity and artistic kinship.
