Peg Leg (1975) captures The Human Instinct in a transitional, roots‑leaning phase, moving away from the heavy psychedelic attack of their early albums and into a looser blend of blues‑rock, country‑rock and laid‑back groove. Maurice Greer leads a refreshed lineup, steering the band toward warmer tones, acoustic textures and characterful storytelling, while still retaining flashes of the group's trademark edge.

The album's mix of originals and covers reflects the band's broadening palette, with relaxed jams, melodic guitar work and an easy, unforced feel throughout. Though very different from the explosive Stoned Guitar era, Peg Leg shows the band's versatility and evolving musical identity.
