Beethoven for Three: Symphony no.3, Leonore Overture no.3

Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yo-Yo Ma's fifth Beethoven for Three release features Symphony no.3 "Eroica", op.55, and the Leonore Overture no.3, op.72b. Joined by violist Antoine Tamestit for both pieces, the group performs these landmark compositions in new arrangements for piano quartet by Shai Wosner. Written within a few years of each other, Symphony no.3 "Eroica" and the Leonore Overture no.3 are a triumphant beginning to Beethoven's "middle period," exploring heroism and nobility of spirit and - in the case of the "Eroica" - reinventing the symphonic form for the Romantic era.
