Sinding: Romantic Piano, Vol. 13

Norwegian composer Christian Sinding benefitted from the finest musical training available in Oslo before continuing his studies in Leipzig, where he encountered Ferruccio Busoni. Possessing a rich melodic gift, Sinding was long regarded as Grieg's natural successor, though his own music turned away from Norwegian folk influences and instead embraced the high Romanticism of Liszt and Wagner.

The Sonata in B minor showcases his lyrical imagination, driven by long‑spun melodic invention and coloured by unmistakable Brahmsian undertones. Those same qualities animate the 15 Caprices, a collection that captures the sheer melodiousness, energy and expressive sweep that once made Sinding's music immensely popular.
