Following on from their recording of the sonatas for violin and obbligato harpsichord, Isabelle Faust and Kristian Bezuidenhout are now joined by Kristin von der Goltz for an exploration of the wonderful pieces Bach composed for violin and continuo. They reveal to the full the elegance and poetry of these rarely recorded works.
"There are occasional moments where, in contrast to the richness and intensity of Faust's violin sound, more lightness and lift might have offered more yield. But throughout this programme, we are treated to Bach duo-playing of exemplary engagement and purring quality." Gramophone Award Nomination 2026 - Chamber
"Faust is a splendid guide, not just thoughtful, but also on occasion provocative...Kristin von der Goltz on cello and Kristian Bezuidenhout, playing a resonant modern copy of a harpsichord contemporary to Bach, make up a remarkable ensemble providing much more than mere accompaniment."
