Well, it's about time someone gave ol' JJ the really, truly, very best of treatment.
"Well it's about time someone gave ol' JJ the really, truly, very best of treatment. He's been sticking firm to his blues soaked vision since the early '70s and he's certainly not about to turn round and declare his new found love for synthesized dance music. So what you get for your JJ dollars is a smattering of the highlights from all of his Mercury albums, arranged chronologically plus a bonus for the die hard Calophile. The extra treat comes in the form of 'Midnight In Memphis' a previously unreleased treat from the 'Really' album sessions that could only have been denied inclusion on the original set because it would have made the the thing too goldarned long for a LP or an 8-track.
All the easy going classics you'd expect feature in the roll call from 'After Midnight', 'Cajun Moon' and 'Magnolia' through to the dusty grooves of 'Cocaine' and later works like 'Mama Don't' and 'Money Talks'. Sure JJs' not out there scouting for a new crowd with this compilation but completionists will blow a fuse on 'Midnight In Memphis' and those who've enjoyed his music over the years will find that this one goes down like a fine wine."
