"Most imaginative, a very stunning rendition of Doors classics" The Doors
The music of The Doors is legendary. Every self-respecting rock enthusiast has their albums in their collection, and no one born since the 1960s can fail to have at least heard it. The music has been used in films (from Apocalypse Now to Forrest Gump) and has been covered by many bands. Jim Morrison, the band's iconic singer, is a symbol for youth worldwide. It is against this background that Jaz Coleman, producer of the hugely successful Symphonic Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin albums and member of Killing Joke, conceived this project - creating a symphonic experience of this classic music.
"This record is faithful to the passion and spirit of The Doors. When I first heard it, I got a little teary and thought of Jim Morrison. I'm sure that people who only know Rock 'n' Roll will have their heads blown off"
John Densmore
drummer, The Doors
"When I first heard The Doors Concerto, I was pretty much amazed at how well Coleman captured the sombreness and the sadness of some of the songs. I know Jim would have loved it and I wish he was here to hear it"
Robby Krieger
guitarist, The Doors
"Nigel Kennedy's violin made me think immediately of Jim Morrison's voice. The Doors Concerto is an absolutely stunning piece of work. It's a marvellous marriage of two separate art forms being brought together. It is a fabulous idea and a great way of treating Doors music"
Ray Manzarek, keyboard player, The Doors
