'This is a sympathetic overview of Arensky's career and a second volume would be welcome. The booklet notes are a helpful introduction to the man and his music.'
- International Record Review

'But Polyansky's hearty and affectionate embrace leaves nothing to be desired, and his urgent account makes me wish he had given us both symphonies, coupled with the Variations, as he is head and shoulders above either Svetlanov or Serov both temperamentally and sonically, and certainly it is his recording of the B minor I will be returning to with the greatest pleasure. Here is a first-rate introduction to the music of Arensky.'
- American Record Guide

This CD contains the premiere recordings of Arensky's Cantata on the Tenth Anniversary of the Coronation and Three Vocal Quartets with cello accompaniment.

Polyansky's Russian choir and orchestra have demonstrated a special commitment to their native repertoire and their performances have the unmistakable ring of authenticity.

Arensky studied at St Petersburg under Rimsky-Korsakov and later taught harmony and counterpoint at St Petersburg Conservatory. The distinctive and highly romantic music of this eclectic composer reveals the influences of the work of other Russian composers as well as mainstream Western European music.
