'Debuts like this are rare...a radiantly lovely voice, elegant phrasing...sheer vocal beauty.' Die Presse

Aria Cantilena is Elina Garanca's debut recording on Deutsche Grammophon, a portrait album showcasing the rich, creamy voice and exceptional versatility of one of today's hottest young singers. Music of various moods and styles, sung in four languages, all wrapped in a voice of milk and honey - this is the debut album of an extraordinary talent poised to become the next international superstar.

Elina has selected some of her favourite arias and scenes from current and future stage roles - ranging from the coloratura tour-de-force of Rossini's Cenerentola to the sparkling wit of Offenbach's Grande-Duchesse to the emotional intensity of Charlotte's 'Letter Scene' from Massenet's Werther.

The rich, lyrical finale from Strauss' Rosenkavalier is a special treat - Elina, who created a sensation as Octavian at the Vienna State Opera earlier this year, teams up with sopranos Diana Damrau and Adrianne Pieczonka for the luxurious trio.

Of special importance to Elina is the Spanish repertoire represented here, including Villa-Lobos's haunting Aria Cantilena, a beautiful piece with high commercial potential.
