"The Czech cellist, whose ancestors played for Frederick the Great, plays them with authority." - Jeff Bradley - Denver Post - Feb 4, 1995
"These three delightful Concertos are admirably played by Christian Benda, who also directs his own accompaniments. He is a present member of a well-known family of Czech musicians, a dynasty which reaches back to the court of Frederick the Great. The First G major Concerto is particularly winning, and the spirited Allegros of the other two works are hardly less amiable and each has a slow movement with a yearning contour, with the closing Rondo of the C major work the most infectious of all. The recording is excellent, and if you enjoy Cellos concertos this group is not to be missed. A small reservation is that the cadenzas, composed by another member of the Benda family, could with advantage have been more succinct." Penguin Guide
