"She has Nielsen under her skin in a way I've never heard before, and it's been a real revelation. Sorry guys - but I urge you, buy Danish."
(MusicWeb March 2009)
Carl Nielsen, Denmark's most famous composer, is mainly known for his six symphonies. However, Nielsen also spent a lot of time writing music for the piano. He wrote his Piano compositions, like his symphonies, over many years and their stylistic breadth practically equals that of the orchestral works.
CPO's new recording with the Copenhagen-born pianist Christina Bjørkøe, who was awarded the Danish Music Prize for the best solo production of the year in 2005 for her interpretation of the piano music of Knudåge Riisager, is guaranteed to be a sensation.
