This former vocalist of alt-folk band La Honda proffers a smooth, retro jazz sound and a lush voice reminiscent of Karen Carpenter.
Rumer's 'Seasons of My Soul' is the debut album from young, Pakistan-born British singer-songwriter Sarah Joyce - her stage name inspired by the novelist Margaret Rumer Godden, whose childhood in the Indian subcontinent mirrors Joyce's own. This former vocalist of alt-folk band La Honda proffers a smooth, retro jazz sound and a lush voice reminiscent of Karen Carpenter.
Her debut album is a beautiful, autobiographical yet brilliantly universal record. Lyrically, Rumer's songs draw on her rich and complex personal history.
